Introduction: I offer guitar instruction for children and adults. For children I utilize the Suzuki Method, which is designed to come alongside the parent in their work to educate and nurture. I am a Suzuki Association registered teacher with a BA in Music, and State of Alaska Teaching Certificate (K-8) Interested parents should contact the studio with the intent to set up a free consultation session. Lessons (including curriculum planning and methods of teaching) are catered toward and individual learners needs, specifically with an adult learner's needs in mind.

Paul has an amazing gift with children. He has the ability to reach them as individuals where they are developmentally and help them find their love of music. The Suzuki method he uses gives the strucuture. His creativity and intuition provide the individualization and the outcome is remarkable. We will forever be greatful for his lighting the musical spark that is flourishing in our child.

My 6 year old daughter has been taking guitar lessons with "Mr. Paul" for a year. He has a wonderful way of connecting kids. He feels very present and focused in the lessons. When we run into challenges, he offers a myriad of suggestions. He is punctual, but doesn't seem rushed. It is obvious that he really enjoys teaching music.

My children have been receiving classical guitar lessons from Paul for the past 4-5 years. He is an exceptional teacher who skillfully interacts with and motivates children to achieve their goals for guitar playing. His unique and creative style translates into fun for the kids, all the while holding them to a high standard of performance. My kids have ALWAYS enjoyed going to lessons and this speaks volumes!!

My daughter has really enjoyed learning from Paul over the last 3 years. He is warm and motivating. He recognizes progress, but also holds my daughter accountable for practicing and playing with good quality. She looks up to Paul. Prior to working with Paul, we were with a nationally known Suzuki instructor in Texas. Paul sometimes comments that he doesn't live up to her reputation, but he is so wrong! He is so much more motivating and encouraging! I am certain that my daughter would not be as committed to guitar with any other teacher.

Pricing is discussed in person at the free initial meeting, and is within the comparable to other professional studios' tuition rates.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We all have differing learning styles and goals, but all good learning experiences happen within a warm, patient and attentive environment. Our initial meeting will focus on understanding your inspiration for pursing music, and making a tailored, living plan that guides what we study and how we pursue personal learning goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked as a teacher for over 15 years (within the Anchorage School District and as studio owner). I have a BA in Music (emphasis on Guitar and Composition) from George Fox University. I have a post-bacc Certificate in Teaching from Rio Salado College. I have a State of Alaska Teaching Certificate. I am registered Suzuki Association of the Americas teacher, with multiple trainings listed. I worked as a therapist for 2 years.
