We offer catfish guide service on the Tennessee River. "Come Catch A Monster"!
We fish year round, but the prime time for trophy catfish is September to May. The late fall and winter months are the best months to catch a big ol' bluecat in excess of 50 pounds.
We catch both trophy blues and some nice flatheads in April. May and early June is the best time to night fish for trophy flatheads and some nice blues. July and August it gets hot; the action can also be hot, but most cats will range from 1-30 pounds.
We operate three guide boats, and can accommodate large groups. Primarily, we fish for bluecats on Pickwick, Wilson, Wheeler, Guntersville, Nickajack, and Chickamauga lakes, but we will take special request and target the species of your choice on the lake/river of your choice.
We fish for both trophy and smaller eating size fish. All cats over 15 lbs. are photographed and released. We provide all necessary equipment, boat, and bait. You are responsible for your own lodging, meals, and fishing license.
Camp sites are numerous and convenient to all of the areas we fish as well.

We booked an all day fishing trip with Mike Mitchell from SouthernCats Guide Service. It was an extremely thrilling experience. Not only did Mike conduct himself in a professional manner, it was like fishing with a friend. He took the time to teach you some of the things about catfishing. The only negative about the trip is that it didnt last long enough!! Had a blast! I would highly recommend SouthernCats Guide Service and even plan to use them again in the future.

Fishing with SouthernCats Guide Service " Mike Mitchell "was an experience I wasn't use to . I have been fishing all my life ,from deep sea to wading rivers. I had more fun fishing with Mike than I have had in a long time. It was like he was a true friend rather than a guide
Thanks Mike

A. Hiring a guide will help you learn how to do it own your own and cut years off the learning curve. Be patient, listen, ask questions, and apply what yo learn.
A. Electronics is crucial in fishing, I really rely on my sonar, navionics mapping software, gps waypoints, and sidescanning. Humminbird is the way to go!
A. How much experience do you have with guiding? Is my safety your upmost concern? What can I expect on a average day on your boat?
