I have been so thrilled to meet and work with Terry Webster. I recently hired him to play Trumpet with the Cloud 9 Orchestra earlier this year. He is an excellent musician, which is no surprise given his professional experience. I was honored to work with him on a professional level, but even more so on a personal level. Before we had our first rehearsal, I sat down talk with him. It was then, I quickly realized I wanted him to be a regular part of our band. He seemed to capture my vision for C9O almost instantly. He will remain a special part of the band--serving in the capacity of trumpeter and musical director. His kind spirit, commitment to excellence, and God-given chops make him an asset to any who use his services. You can't go wrong with Terry Webster...he's one of the best!

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Always ask for professional recording samples for any musician. Most serious musicians will have at least one professional recording. Don't accept recordings that sound like they were recorded in a garage or at a football game. These never provide a good listening example of what the performer can really do.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. References are a plus. A musician that has been performing professionally will always have a great list of references.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What style of music would you say is your primary? You don't want to hire a country singer if you are looking for a rock and roller. Same goes with most musicians. Most instrumentalists can perform in multiple styles/genres, but be sure to ask them what they are best at.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. When hiring a professional musician, consider what talent level you really want. Remember the old saying "You get what you pay for?" Most cheap musicians will not deliver the same level of confidence or professionalism as a more mature and slightly more expensive musician. Just remember that cost is not all of it. If they do not have a professional recording, chances are they are not that good!
