Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. If someone is looking for a good golf store I would advise looking for local owned shops and avoid large retail chains. Golf is very personal to most who play and local owned shops will usually have a very knowledgeable staff and be hungrier for your business than the big chains who are interested in making as many sales as possible with as little customer interaction as possible. Interaction costs their bottom line so they would prefer you just click and buy online. Also, you may be surprised to find that the smaller businesses actually offer more choices in product, not just better service. Plus golf stores with one or two locations will try to make your visit a lasting pleasure because they have to live and die by the quality of the customer, not the quantity.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. If I were a customer I would want to know the difference between manufacturer hype, and real golf technology that works. The secret has really been out for a while, golfers should be getting fit for every golf club they buy. However the quality of the fitting is really what matters. There is a big difference between a nifty sales gimmick and a true Tour Quality Golf Club fitting.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Well in my business the services we provide are golf lessons, golf club fittings, and retail golf sales. Consumers should be asking about the certifications of the person doing their lesson or fitting for one. Second is to find a trusted individual who has used the facility for lessons or fittings and hear what they think. Plus see if the facility offers any kind of satisfaction guarantee. A guarantee on something such as a golf lesson is rare, but we offer it here at Arkansas Golf Center and we do it both because we're that confident in our product and we truly care about the customer experience.
