This is THE school to attend or send your children to if you want to learn music. Little Rock Jams goes beyond the classroom instruction and offers many other opportunities to learn and interact with other musicians!

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Overall, music lessons are our bread and butter for the studio. Our Rock Star birthday parties is a very distant second place.

For music lessons we generally see Guitar and Piano having the most students, followed by Vocal Lessons, Drum Lessons, Bass Lessons and twangy Banjo Lessons.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Find a studio that offers a free trial lesson (we do). Meet the teacher and discuss your goals. After the lesson, if you feel the teacher and the studio are a good fit for your musical goals, sign up and get to work on your music!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Inside secret - you get the most out of your lessons if you practice consistently and come prepared each week for your lesson. This way, you are constantly moving toward your goals!

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. A few things in particular: What instrument or instruments you are interested in learning; If you are interested in lessons, the days of the week and times that work with your schedule; Be able to discuss with the instructor the music you enjoy (artists, bands, styles); Have all the questions you want to ask ready for the instructor (i.e. how much will I need to practice? what material will I need to cover to get to where I want to be? What will the instructor expect from you every week with regard to preperation for the lesson? What materials will I need for the lessons? Will I need anything other than my instrument at the lesson? etc.)

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Little Rock Jams adds value to your dollar by charging a flat monthly fee (no extra lesson fees for 5 week months) and by including monthly master class workshops and jam sessions with your lessons at no extra cost.

We also provide performance opportunities for you to accelerate the learning process.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Seeing students grow as musicians and creating new music. A side benefit of teaching music is that we constantly hear new bands and new music before the general public due to the students bringing the music into the lessons for learning or just showing us the next cool thing in music.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How old should my child be before they start learning? And, Am I too old to learn?

For children, the love of music starts at a very early age. Look for a pre-k program for 3-5 year olds, then private lessons at 6 and up.

For adults, if you're still breathing, it's not too late to start!

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Our favorite stories come from the reasons kids give us for not practicing. For example, we had a snow day last month. One student didn't practice all week because "the snow made him forget to practice!"

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Easy, we all wanted to have the best job in the world! Playing music all day with students, seeing students grow and develop and working in a studio with a full performance venue for jamming and rehearsing with our bands ... what is there not to love about this job???

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Little Rock Jams hosted the Kaleidoscope Kids (http://www.kaleidoscopekids.org/) last December as a part of their annual Christmas caroling event. This organization supports critically ill and grieving children, teens, and their families through education, therapeutic and recreational services, grief support programs.
Sally got the kids, parents and sponsers on stage and rehearsed them on their songs and then off they went in their limo's to eat and carol at the Easter Seals.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. We purchased a JamHub, with floor multi-effects, mics, headphones, Korg keyboard and an electronic drum kit to create a silent rehearsal/jam room. With everything set up, you can play with 7 people without making a sound! We had some road bumps getting the gear from AMS and Musician's Friend.
