A. Are they a licensed acupuncturist (this means they have at least 2,500 to 3,500 hours of training in Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture). How long have they been in business, do they charge by the hour, body part or by the session are important to know up front. Some practitioners see multiple patients at a time and spend minimal time with patients while others only see one patient at a time and provide better service to their patients.
A. You pay for what you get. If the fee is discounted too much then you get discounted service. that said just because the fee is high does not mean better service. Make sure you understand the practitioners credentials and how their services are structured.
A. How long have they been in business, do they have an office or do they practice out of their house, are they licensed s an acupuncturist, what is their specialty (aside from pain management which all acupuncturists are well trained in).
A. Has their condition been diagnosed by a licensed health care practitioner? For example; if you have a tooth ache have you seen a dentist or if your back hurts have you seen a chiropractor? It is important to rule out any serious physical conditions that need Medical attention. If after they have seen their regular medical professional it has been determined that there is nothing needing their attention (like a filling or adjustment, etc.) then acupuncture can help with the pain.
A. At the Dancing Bear Healing Center we are not just acupuncturists. We have other options aside from needles, provide excellent customer service and try to make the treatment a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Many of what ails us is either created or aggravated by stress. We provide a stress free, relaxing environment for the healing process to manifest.
A. If Obama Care is not repealed then in 2014 all acupuncture treatments by a licensed acupuncturist will have to be covered by insurance. This will be a good thing for everyone. Also in 2014 Medicare will cover acupuncture treatments.
A. If I have never had acupuncture before what do I need to know before my treatment with regards to preparation, attire, diet, etc.?
