FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge $60 an hour per guy, however if you hire two guys up front it is $100 per hour - or $150 for three guys.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started doing odd and end jobs with my parents at a young age. I moved into bigger jobs from the age of 16. Everything from drywall, carpentry, demolition, etc. My infatuation with DIY grew and I started taking any and all classes I could to learn how to do anything and everything. In 2013 I started my own company doing preservation work and covered the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and lower Pennsylvania in the Philadelphia area. In 2015 I moved to North Carolina and started covering the eastern portion of the state as well as eastern Virginia. In 2018 my husband and I merged our knowledge and opened Tippett Contracting Services LLC in North Carolina. When we relocated to Arizona we continued our family-owned business with our kids. Here we are today, going strong.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Honesty and communication. It is a two-way street. Life happens and sometimes things don't go the way we want them to. I don't expect my customers to know everything - that's why they are calling me - I do however expect honesty from my customer. If you already know of a pre-existing condition regarding the project you want me to do, please just be honest and tell me. When I quote a project, I do so based off of what you have told me. So, if I get into that project and find circumstances that we are not aware of, it would be appreciated if that was taken into consideration regarding the projects estimated price. It all comes down to honesty and communication. Two things critical to trust and a working relationship.
