My family has thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Ben! My two boys, one learning guitar and the other the drums, have really grown in a short amount of time. The depth of musical instruction has been not only educational, but relevant for the boys too. Thanks Ben!

Ben has taught my sons for several years now and it's been an invaluable experience for all! He taught one drums for 2.5 years starting when he was 10. He has also taught my other son guitar for over a year. They are to the point where they are collaborating on music together and writing music. I wouldn't recommend anyone else!

Fundamentals - Ben is all about the basics first when it comes to his lesson plan. FUNDAMENTALS ARE KEY! I highly recommend Ben as a music instructor. Hire Ben and you will not be disappointed in your student's progress!

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Piano, Drums, Bass Guitar, Acoustic and Electric Guitar Instruction (your place or mine). Teaching classes for beginner and Intermediate guitar at The Paradise Valley Community Center for 7 years now. Also have available a small studio space to give lessons in N. Phoenix. Writing production, recording, instrument/studio set-up and live sound reinforcement, if desired.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. How should I approach the keyboard with my hands? How do I hold the pick or write to make my own music? Any mechanical tricks to cut the length of time it takes to play well? What's timing all about? How do I practice? Is there a way to memorize theory while I'm enjoying music?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Explaining music theory in a reasonable/simple fashion.
Teaching Improvisation within a few weeks. Professional musicians use good mechanical form for their instruments. Why not start there? Helping to develop confidence and earned respect for working to get what students want (practicing in good form:) then actually seeing/hearing the results.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Influencing the next generation of musicians to think and play for the music. Learning theory and Structure is great for remembering the many rules of solid musical composition. I also really enjoy playing Guitar, Bass, Drums , Piano and Singing/Songwriting.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. We help build confidence and genuine self esteem to those that will put forth any effort at all. I've seen 90% of all our students earn a healthy, measurable improvement.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have always loved music and genuinely enjoy showing people how to play what I know. A friend suggested I start instructing and helped me land a job giving beginning lessons to students for Prescott Music Center. I also decided to teach privately, then started teaching group classes at the PV Community Center here in Phoenix. I moved here to Phoenix from Prescott about 3 years ago to instruct full time.
