FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is based on value billing. Per hour billing is rare for me. In new clients, it takes more time but the product is billed by the package. For example, if a new clients needs 12 months of transactions inputted plus a corp tax return, it is priced by the volume of the transactions not by the hour. The client who has 50 transactions per month is less than the client who has 400 transactions per month. The tax returns are the same. Corps and LLC start at $360 and individuals at $180 for tax prep. You get to call me all year with questions and you do not get another bill for that. Lease or buy? Sell or hold? Invest or not? We talk about it and you do not get a bill for it. It is selfish really, if I know what you are doing all year, I am less surprised at tax time and can pre-work some of your choices. I generally see most clients through electronic means or face-to-face by year end so there are no surprises at tax time. Most are not charged for basic planning. If it is extensive, it might be billable.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Of course the CPA requirements mandate continuing education for an active license. It is a distinctive difference in the professional level of a CPA to a non-licensed preparer.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
This work picked me. I am very analytical, logical and bottom line. Started my own firm in 1990 and love what I do. It's not been work for me, it's been who I am. I stay current on tax laws and pending legislation. I see a big picture with a client, not just a quick 1040.
