Hired on Thumbtack

Tried to reschedule less than 24 hours before scheduled time. Ended up arriving 30 minutes after originally scheduled. Seemed to have difficulty installing fixture and took quite some time.Was nice enough but I think I will pay more for a more experienced professional.

Desiree, I appreciate your review, unfortunately, there are times when rescheduling is necessary. I do my best to stay on schedule and it is rare that I need to reschedule, however, as you will remember, I did keep my appointment time and let you know that I would be arriving late. Additionally, in completing ANY type of job, there are unforeseen circumstances that arise which can extend the completion of a project. I understand that you feel that it took longer than it should have, but I pride myself on doing a good job, and I would hope that you would respect the fact that I took the time that was necessary to do the job right. Once again, my appologies that you were not satisfied with the time frame, and I hope you enjoy your new fixture.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If I am unable to give a detailed quote, I will offer to complete the work you need on a time and material basis. My base hourly rate is $40.00p/hr. If the job is considered an emergency, or after hours, my base rate is $55.00 p/hr plus a service charge (if applicable).
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I meet a new customer, the first thing that is done before any work is started is that the scope of work is completely explained. Any recommendations are offered at that time. Elkhorns philosophy is being transparent. There will NEVER be any hidden charges. The customer will know and understand what we are going to do, so there will not be any surprises. Any amendments to the contractual amount will be discussed and agreed upon by Elkhorn and the customer prior to any work commencing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I, (owner of Elkhorn Electric) have over 28 years of experience. I graduated from the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers - local 640, apprenticeship program in 1968, and have been instumental in the completion of projects with corporations such as Google, Yahoo, School Districts, Banner Health Care, N.A.S.A, Federal Govt, and many others.
