to me
Thanks Mike! You were just what my father would have wanted…very moving but understated. I was looking for you and realized you slipped out inconspicuously in true piper form. – Jan 29, 2012 at 4:43 pm -
SOPA and PIPA have been thwarted for the moment. Through the Internet the people still have a voice! :-) Awful for a Piper to go political though! – Jan 23, 2012 at 7:06 am

I am a solo Irish bagpiper available for rebellions, uprisings or other celebrations (weddings, funerals, parades, parties, etc.)
As an Arizona piper most of my performances are in Arizona. However, I do play out of state gigs if my travel is paid.
Perhaps some still, starry, desert evening you've heard my pipes on the warm, soft night air of the vast desert?
You'll know it's me by my sparing use of ornamentation. I love the harmonics and will not guild the lilly. If you enjoy the drones and chanter the ruckus raised by my bagpipes will be your own reward. Nothing raises a ruckus like bagpipes!

Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Ignore all the so-called experts (there very few real ones anyway). Listen to the Piper you are interested in play the tunes you would like to hear. If they please you, nothing else matters. Do not be afraid to ask for suggestions. Remember that Pipes have a loud and commanding prescence, and used to excess will overpower your event!
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. It is important to realize that the bagpipes have only a nine note range and are by nature slightly off pitch. They do not play well with most instruments, and because of the narrow tonal range most music played on bagpipes is written specifically for them. Sorry, "Stairway to Heaven" is out. :-)
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. In this metropolitan area of over six million people, there are at most a handful of Pipers. Many of those are not for hire. Some of those who do hire out are incredibly expensive. That makes my willingness to hire out for your event, at a reasonable rate, rather unique. I must say though the one thing all pipers have is a passion for the instrument, regardless of where we play. Without that passion it is just too demanding to learn.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Though some engagements are somber affairs there are always the parties! While there is great satisfaction in piping the departed home and consoling the greaving, there is something very rejuvenating about helping a group celebrate...... anything. :-)
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Without any hesitation what-so-ever the most common question put to ANY piper is "What's under your kilt?" Sorry, it is just a fact. People are strange. I can't imagine anyone putting such a question to a lady in a skirt! Oh, the answer? Well it depends on who's asking! :-)
