Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Your time, money and effort are valuable. Find a counselor who will work with you to find a solution to your problems, preferably a counselor with experience and insight. Choose a counselor who will be empathetic and direct at the same time. Choose a counselor who will work with your schedule.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Although education is important and necessary, good counselors are born, not made. The qualities that make a good counselor cannot be taught in school. Life experience, insight and empathy are just as important as specialized education.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Are you licensed? Do you have convenient hours? Do you offer advice or do you just listen? What is your training? Life experience?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. What do I want from counseling? What are my goals? How much is my happiness worth to me? What is it about my life I want to change?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I am both direct and empathetic. I will listen and then offer advice. Both your time and my time are valuable. I will make the most of the time you spend with me.
