- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't just do your homework investigating the extensionists credentials, but ask to meet a client and to see you put the extensions in and take them out. When investigating their credentials - ask to see certifications for what they claim to be trained in and also contact the company who certified them to make sure this person has in fact been trained in this technique and how long they have been doing it. There are alot of fake certifications out there! Also make sure the person you are going to hire is a licensed hair stylist working in a licensed establishment. It is illegal to do extensions in the state of AZ without a valid hair stylist license and also to do extensions outside or a licensed establishment. Also make sure the extensionist has not only been doing the system they are offering you for over a decade (it takes that long to master any craft) but that they have been doing that technique full time - not once in awhile. Alot of proclaimed extensionsists don't even get formal training in extensions - they are people who could be hair stylists or maybe not, who are jumping on a bandwagon to make money. They just start doing them and then proclaim to be an "expert" with no training whatsoever. Extensions require a great deal of skill that takes a long time to develop and many many years of experience to master. They are not easy to do and there is a reason why most "top" hairstylists don't do them.. They take alot of time and skill and physical labor to do. Most hairstylist don't want to work thst hard or do not want to lie about their experience doing them and do not want to do anything they are not truely an 'expert" in.
