Kay is the most amazing tutor ever! She makes learning fun and easy! I am never afraid to ask her a question because she always has a way to help me.

Kay was my tutor for Chemistry and Math for the past year.

My final grade in Chemistry was an A+!! I have never gotten over a C!

My math grade was an A as well!

I will be using Kay for my tutor until I graduate! And then I will continue to use her when I start college!

    I would highly recommend her!

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Private tutoring, classes, professional exams. One-to-one tutoring in Math, Chemistry, and the natural sciences.
Testing for entrance exams and employment. Students of all levels; high school, college, community college, and professional adult students.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Anyone can tutor. Anyone can teach. But can they do it well? Does the tutor take into account how the student learns? What the past history in the course is?
A great tutor utilizes a unique approach to each and every student. A great tutor 'Assess for Success' and builds on a student's strengths so that he/she gains confidence in both the self and the subject.
A great tutor loves the job and thrives on the success of each student!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I love what I do! I have the ability to make difficult to learn concepts clear and easy! And I like to have FUN doing it!

Unlike most teachers and tutoring professionals I use a 'student centric' approach. Each student has a unique way of learning, I recognize that and teach to the student in a way that he/she will understand.

Anyone can 'teach' math or chemistry, but a professional tutor needs to be able to 'teach to the student' giving the student confidence and building on each success.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. The smile on the face of a student when her or she realizes that they CAN learn, and not only learn but be successful at it!
Many students come to me frustrated because they have had a difficult time throughout their education with both math & science. I have seen so many students read to just quit they are so frustrated. I love explaining that they CAN do it, that we need to work together to ensure their success and that we WILL overcome the difficulties! Then when I go on to 'prove' it to them, as success and confidence begins to show in their work, the smiles just don't stop!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What is my background? I have a degree in Biochemistry with minors in Math and Biology. They always say 'well it must be easy for you then'! Ha! No way! I share my own history; I didn't even PASS the math exam to get into college! I had to take 'remedial' math classes just to be able to take Algebra in college! My degree then required me to take CALCULUS! I thought I would die before I could pass any math class let alone Calculus! I studied hard, I studied MY way, I took classes with teachers who taught so that I could understand. And not only was I successful, I graduated with a MATH minor and a 4.0 GPA! I had to WORK at it, and I had to work HARD! But my pain and experience helps my students...they can do it if I can!

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I was asked to tutor a college freshman this past year who came into her Freshman year math-deficient (her words). She felt she had never done 'good' in math because she just wasn't able to 'learn' it. We started from the basics, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. She worked very hard and when she took her first test, she got an 'A'! She was ecstatic! She had never received a grade higher than a 'C' in a math class, let alone on a test! This one 'A' grade changed her life and her outlook. She had the confidence she needed. After finishing the class with a high B+ she told me that was thinking of going into accounting! She had always wanted to work with numbers but didn't think she could. Now that she had the confidence to learn math she felt she could do anything she wanted! I have never felt more pride in my life! I didn't just open up Math to her, I opened up a myriad of choices for her to make in her life!
