Introduction: I focus on the long term. There are thousands of ways to lose weight quickly. And honestly, a lot of them work; in the short term anyway. Unfortunately, 90% of people who lose weight, gain in back within a year many times gaining more than they originally lost. Why? Because they try and take shortcuts and don't take the time to learn a new way of living for the long term. The sad part is my profession is partly to blame. Just look at all the advertisements out there. 4 minute abs. Lose 5 lbs in the first week! Drink a shake in the morning, shake at lunch, and then a sensible dinner! The amazing HCG diet! 2 month program to get in shape for the summer! The list goes on and on. I do not take shortcuts even if it means losing clients. I focus on the long term and teach my clients to live a healthy and fit lifestyle. Making people smile.

    Believe it or not, the #1 reason people quit an exercise program is NOT lack of time. It is because they get hurt. When looking for a personal trainer, look for someone who can provide not only an effective program, but a safe one as well. Look at their credentials. Find out if they are certified by a reputable, national organization such as ACE, ACSM, or NSCA. Also, find out if they have a college degree in a fitness related field such as kinesiology or exercise science.
