Matt Hitzhusen is very experienced, knowledgeable and friendly. I get value out of every single one of my training sessions and don’t think I could get a better experience with any other trainer. I have injuries with my shoulder rotator cuff and knee ligaments which make it difficult for me to be able to work out and gain muscle. Matt has been able to work with me and listen to what my body and I am telling him. Exercises have been modified and added based on my conditions. He spends the time to take note of these things and this helps me to be able to feel comfortable and get the best results possible. His scheduling is flexible, his facility is very nice and in a convenient location; this makes it very easy for me to be able to get to every one of my sessions as to not interrupt any progress that has been made. If you are considering going to the next level or even just starting out with getting your fitness goals achieved, Matt is the man to get you there.

Matt is amazing. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars. I starting working out with him in May 2012. I had just gotten engaged and was seriously packing on the pounds due to the stress of law school. I figured an engagement was a great reason to get my butt in shape. So I starting working out with Matt thinking I would maybe train with him for about 6 months to 1 year to get myself going and on the right track. Well..... 2 1/2 years later and I am still working out with Matt twice a week! My body is better than ever and I could not have done it without Matt. Not only is he an amazing trainer, he is also a teacher. He is constantly educating himself on everything from exercises to nutrition and is never too busy to offer his advice and help counsel you through any fitness/health problem you may be having. In addition, he is a blast to work out with. I look forward to working out with Matt and it offers a much needed break from my otherwise crazy and hectic life. I can't recommend him more. You will not be disappointed.

At 40, I was 187 lbs and life was good. Eleven years later, 229 lbs snuck up on me and enough was enough. I hired a personal trainer to supposedly help me out. Nice guy, but him telling me he was going kick my "you know what" every workout did not motivate me in the least bit. I was disappointed and disengaged... and decided to look around for another personal trainer. Then I met Matt. First impression: was this guy is a PRO. Engaging, passionate about his craft, and exuding confidence in helping me achieve MY goals. He had a robust process to ascertain my current fitness and lifestyle situation and then developed an action plan to improve my life. I hired Matt and bottom-line, it has been both life-changing and life-enhancing. Matt has a unique ability to totally engage with you during your training session. In his mind there is no other person in his gym but you. Under his leadership and training, I have the following concrete results to report: 1) WEIGHT: Lost 28 lbs over the course of 11 months…. without dieting. 2) KNOWLEDGE: I'm in finance, so Matt customized his approach, and taught me that I have a budget of calories to spend each day. That weight loss is attributed to a caloric deficit. We set some daily goals that WORKED and were sustainable, even with my hectic business travel and social commitments. Vino and carbs were permissible!...In moderation…And It works. 3) CONFIDENCE: My goal was to be able to take my shirt off at the beach/pool and not be embarrassed. Mission accomplished! My body composition has changed significantly, with huge decreases in fat and increased muscle mass. It is absolutely awesome to fit into my clothes and feel good in my body, no matter where I am. 4) STRENGTH: I can now bench press my own bodyweight for more than 15 repetitions, can perform 20+ strict body-weight dips, and can actually do multiple pull-ups! I am stronger now than I have ever been, and I know there is more to come!

I have been working with Matt for over 3 years. The gym is the best in the city for private or small group training. All new equipment and state of the art. Never crowded...often only the two of us in the entire space which is great for my focus. We work together to set reasonable goals. He is a great coach and keeps current on all things training related. There seems to be a new piece of equipment or training aid to try every week....and the gym already has EVERYTHING. It's got to be one of the most comprehensive and decked out gyms in the city! And....Matt is a great guy. Professional, intelligent and funny. Definitely enjoy my sessions. If you have a chance to work with Matt....you should grab it.

Let me just preface this by saying that I wish I had the liberty of choosing my own amount of starts because Matt and Hitz Fitness deserve more like 20... Out of 5! I became a client of Matt's a little over a year ago (we just had our 1 year anniversary 2 weeks ago). It was just a random inquiry when I stopped by his gym back then. I knew I wanted to get fit and be healthier but lacked the "know how" to REALLY accomplish my goals on my own. My goals then were simple: Get fit, feel comfortable going into a public gym solo to work out (and not just get on the elliptical for 45 minutes), and to have a fantastically phenomenal backside. (I truly think this is what laid the foundation for the structure from which my client/trainer relationship with Matt is based). LOL As I'm sure Matt soon discovered, I come with my own cargo freight of baggage that, after I established a trust for him, I unloaded on his doorstep (sorry Matt!). Let me explain: I use to (10 years ago) be 450 lbs. I now, with the help of Matt and Hitz Fitness, weigh 184!! When Matt took me on a year ago I was around 235. I had (still do but far less now!) excess skin I wanted to try and tone and tighten, a self esteem that needed a little mending and a couple (a lot)of preconceived ideas about nutrition and weight training that REALLY needed some fine tuning. Fish out of water, trying to climb a tree and nervous as ever about it- that was me the first day training with Matt... Sitting down and dissecting everything you think you need/want to work on in regards to yourself can be an exposing, vulnerable and emotional thing. Since day 1, during my consultation with Matt, he has been nothing short of AMAZING!! His limitless knowledge of all things regarding nutrition, muscular system anatomy, training techniques and the ability to impart that kowledge to his clients is a gift that is strictly unique to Matt and his hand selected staff at Hitz Fitness. Matt possesses the ability to truly teach his clients a foundation that results in us successfully incorporate health and fitness into our lives. Matt's impeccably high standard for training will not only increase your knowledge; he will instill proper form and technique in all you do, thus increasing your results as well as your confidence to practice what you've been taught. This isnt just limited to while you're in a training session at his gym (which is the most impressive gym-both public and/or private- that anyone has ever seen! Seriously makes even the most "gymiest" of gym-rats mouth's water!) In summation: Matt (and Hitz Fitness) has changed my life! (And this is where I get emotional). He has blessed me with a knowledge and discipline in an area that I've ALWAYS dreamed of having. But it's more than that... He has (through his training and success at being the most FANTASTICAL fitness coach) given me the ability to gain confidence in myself and supplied constant assurance that I am progressivly achieving my health and fitness related goals. Matt so sincerely celebrates my victories and achievements with me and gives me guidance when I'm struggling. Matt has seen me at my worst, also at my best, laughed with me and has allowed me to cry and vent when I needed to. Most importantly, he's been a pillar of support, a motivator, an ass buster on the days I needed it, a sounding board for my frustrations and a "two cent giver" upon request. He is an amazing trainer, doing ridiculously spectacular things within the walls of Hitz Fitness... He's changing lives! I have always felt comfortable and welcomed at the gym- which is very important to me. I'd like to end this review by sharing a very proud/special moment I had since beginning at Hitz Fitness with Matt. About 4/5 months in with my sessions with Matt (remember: one of my original goals was to be able to go to the gym by myself and be comfortable working out). I was at the public gym that I have a membership to and was in the middle of a regular workout when I was approached by someone asking if I was a trainer. They noticed that I really knew what I was doing by having proper form and technique and they wanted someone with that knowledge to come to the gym with. It was an AMAZING moment for me (Matt did the happy dance with me when I told him). It's now one of MANY amazing moments I've had since walking into Hitz Fitness a little over a year ago. My life, my passion for fitness, my knowledge there of and my increased confidence in myself will forever and always have Matt to thank. THANK YOU MATT!!!!!
