Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. See if they have a porfolio they can show you. We bring passion, fun, creativity, and exceptional quality materials and design to every project.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Debbie Kennedy Event & Design can help you through the process of your event and is there to let you enjoy your event. For the Candy or Dessert tables we understand how much candy you need and saves you time running around looking for the perfect candy jars. We can help you enjoy your event and help you develop a theme and do all the setup and tear down.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. First find out if the company is licensed and has proper liability insurance. Make sure to get references and ask to see their portfolio. Debbie Kennedy Events & Design (formerly Sugar Plum Designs) pride ourselves on the work we do and know are prices reflect the high end product and service you will receive.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Its best to know how many guests you will have attending your event and your budget. Its very hard to give pricing without knowing how many people we will need to provide service for.
For our Candy or Dessert Tables is there any limitations like do you need sugarfree candy or any special candies you would like on the table. If the event is at a venue make sure they will allow you to bring in this type of service. If you have color swatches of dresses, linens or pictures of flowers arrangements or the venue that will help us understand the decor of the wedding. Also will the event be outside and if so will a shaded area be provided..candy does not do well in the heat. We will always make sure that we visit your venue to make sure we have all the details we will need.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Our Event Planners are designers. With design and styling background we have the expertise and creativity to make your event or dessert/candy table spectacular. For the Dessert Tables we can coordinate with your own Event Planner to pull the whole look together.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Creating a vision that the client has given me and seeing the faces of my clients when they see their Event or Candy/Dessert Table for the first time.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. For Candy or Dessert Buffets: How much candy per person do i need? You want to make sure you are providing enough candy for each person to sample each candy. I usually recommend about 1/4 lb of candy per person however Candy Buffets are also all about the look. You can put a couple jars of candy on the table and it will probably not give you the wow factor you are looking for. With Debbie Kennedy Event & Design you are getting designers with styling experience to set your table apart from other companies and make your table something your guest will be talking about after the event is over.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. My favorite story is for a 9 year old girls birthday party. Her grandmother surprised her for her birthday with a Candy/Dessert Buffet. To see her actually cry when she saw the table...you know you did something good. Loving what you do does help.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. I did a party for a young girl who wanted a green and orange colored table. I loved the color scheme and the table was actually featured on Amy Atlas's blog. Amy Atlas is like the Oprah of Candy/Dessert Tables so it was an honor to have her acknowledge my work.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. I have an interior design background and styling experience for magazines. You can see our work in DIY's Holiday Wedding Magazine for December 2011. Pages 22-27. http://content.yudu.com/Library/A1uv1q/DIYWeddingsMagazineW/resources/index.htm?referrerUrl=http%3A%2F%2Ffree.yudu.com%2Fitem%2Fdetails%2F443628%2FDIY-Weddings-Magazine---Winter-2011
