Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. In hiring a Karaoke company, you might want to find out where they do a show and check them out to make sure their style fits. You need to make sure they are operating with legal music. If you are a bar or a restaurant you need to paying ASCAP and BMI for running Karaoke, but the KJ also needs to be using music that they have legal copies for or you could get into trouble for contributory copyright or trademark infringement.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Businesses that are operating legally normally have liability insurance. Check for liability insurance and that will show they are at least making an effort to to do business properly.
