Introduction: I am an educated musician who graduated Berklee College of Music in 1980 - but I grew up not reading music -- playing by ear in garage bands. I turned professional by age 15 and have gigged and taught professionally ever since. Remembering my roots helps me to reach my students where they are and that helps them get where they want to go. Meeting the needs of each student and helping them over the "hurdles" and stumbling blocks along the way. We all hit plateaus - and a good teacher can help you move up! A great teacher helps you learn how to think and learn as well, and that produces exponential results and also leads to self-teaching.

Gil Donatelli was my band and guitar instructor and I can honestly say I learned more from him than any other person who has instructed me. His passion for music drove us to aspire to be our best and he challenged us and guided us along the way. I would highly recommend him for any music related quest you may want to pursue.

Mr. D was my music teacher in elementary school and in high school. He taught me not only how to play multiple instruments, read music, understand time signatures and rhythm, he opened my eyes to one of the most wonderful, influential things in my life. Music. He pushed me to better my abilities as a musician and as a person. I never knew how many different, eclectic, beautiful sounds were out there until he played them for us in class. I fell in love with jazz, funk, disco, rock, classical, the list goes on. I still listen to the songs we played with excitement and affinity today. I even pluck the bass lines now and again for nostalgia's sake. I consider Gil Donatelli to be one of the most understanding, knowledgeable, fun, motivating people I have ever met. Gil played at our wedding, and he and his band were fabulous. Could play a wide variety of classics, contemporary and requests. Plus, he's the world's nicest guy!

Gil played at a fundraiser that I hosted at a private venue that benefitted The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and he was amazing! He was so entertaining, music was appropriate for the event and crowd, very professional, and flexible throughout the event, even when we interrupted to make announcements and do raffles. Highly recommend! Not bad on the eyes either!
