Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Being a portrait artist is not as easy as it seems. One not only has to have excellent people skills in order to produce images that are warm and engaging, but also the technical skills to be able to shoot in all lighting conditions and situations. Furthermore, knowing composition and lighting is also key to getting a good shot. Then comes the long and sometimes exhausting task of going through and selecting images from a shoot, editing, and posting. This takes up a lot of time for the photographer.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Each of my portait sessions is unique and tailored to event, portrait subject, and personality. I am engaged with my subjects/clients so the images are bold and tell a story. I not only capture the subject/subjects, but the emotion and personalities behind them. I love the eye catching drama of color, but also like subtle beauty of black and white - so my clients always receive the images in both formats. I enjoy not only candid, photojournalistic styles of shooting, but also blend in traditional poses. So, my clients receive a little bit of everything, and a fun experience in the process.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Each session is so unique, the reasons for why people want portraiture, and the large variety of subjects that I get to capture.
