Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. I mostly service and repair their heating and cooling equipment. Water heaters are simple and I like to add them to my list of things that I do.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. One question I would ask someone like me who showed up at my door to "repair" my heating/cooling system would be, "How long have you been in the trade?" and "What did you do before you got into this trade?" Be cautious of the service tech with a lengthy sales background.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Do I want to buy a new air conditioning unit or do I want someone out who can repair it?
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I'm an air conditioning service professional who is out to provide you with quality service. My number one goal is to help YOU. I am not a salesman and my only background is in my trade. I am here to solve your heating & cooling problem, that's what I do.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I like the feeling I get of accomplishing something when I find a problem and fix it.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I was introduced to this trade by my older brother who had already been in the trade for several years prior to me in the state of Florida. One day we got together and just started working together. He was my first instructor and then I decided to enroll at The Refrigeration School here in Phoenix back in 1989.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. To anyone who wants to get into this trade I highly recommend that you first attend an accredited school and then you need to get your feet wet. The training truly begins after you graduate the trade school. Find a company that is looking to let you expand your knowledge by working with journeymen technicians. You need to get involved in installs to understand it from the ground up. Find a company that will pay you hourly with benefits and do not get caught up in the commission based pay companies.
Q. What is your greatest strength?
A. I'm an air conditioning service professional.
