Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I have excelled in my profession as a teacher motivating students to reach their highest potential. Through specialized training I am able to build a strong reading, writing and spelling foundation for my students. I do initial testing to assess the student's grade placement and strengths and weaknesses and then continue assessments on a regular basis to chart their progress. I use incentives to encourage students to stay on task and use a variety of materials and activities to keep them motivated. I am well-organized with concise lesson plans to make optimum use of the time we have together. The sessions are fun and fast-paced using a variety of activities geared to meet the student's needs and filled with much laughter. I have a proven track record and testimonials to back up my successes.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love working one-on-one with students and encouraging them to be the best that they can be. It is very rewarding to watch them achieve their goals and gain confidence in themselves as they become more competent in their school work. I find that it spills over to other areas of their life.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Question: They ask what approach I use to teach reading.

Answer: The first thing I do with a student with low reading skills is to test them and discover their reading level and what skills they are lacking. I want to find their Instructional Reading Level so that they will not be working at a frustration level. Then I begin an integrated approach by using the best tools that my profession has to offer: phonics, vocabulary building including greek and latin roots, strategies for improving reading comprehension, improve reading fluency, build a strong basic sight vocabulary and acquire a love for reading by using interesting and inspiring materials.
