- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I only accept private pay. I do not accept insurance because they require a diagnoses and I do not believe in diagnosing someone strictly for insurance purposes. My price is based off of a 50-minute session.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before we schedule the initial session, we will discuss your specific challenges and what you are wanting out of counseling. I will share with you ideas I have for therapy and if I feel I have the qualifications and experience to help you reach your specific goal(s). From there, if you feel confident in moving forward then we schedule your first appointment. The first part of the initial session is information gathering to gain some background information and then we will set some goals and discuss a treatment plan. The following sessions will consist of work outlined in the treatment plan.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Lindenwood in St. Charles (St. Louis), Missouri and earned a Master of Arts degree at Texas State University in Professional Counseling. My education has prepared me for clinical work with couples, families, groups and individuals. My counseling practice is informed by a foundation of Emotionally Focused and Intimacy Therapy. Additionally, I am a certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator and strongly believe in this therapeutic tool as a means to explore the many facets of relationships and to provide concrete direction for growth. This is one of the most widely researched assessment tools and has been considered the #1 Premarital and Marriage assessment for 35 years. It is useful for therapy because it looks at specific important factors in a relationship such as: relationship roles, spiritual beliefs, family and friends, sexual expectations, financial management, communication, conflict resolution, etc. pinpointing the couples strength and growth areas. My experience has provided me opportunities to work within different settings and broaden my clinical knowledge. I have worked at a children’s center, drug and alcohol treatment centers, correctional facility, catholic diocese counseling center, corporate group events, couples workshops, and now private practice.
