After over a year of complete inactivity and being chained to my desk, I finally decided to start moving my body again. On a friend's recommendation, I contacted John at the Financial District studio for some much-needed personal training. Boy am I glad I did, because I think John is easily the best personal trainer I've ever had. My two big concerns were my awful back pain that had finally started getting better and which I didn't want to trigger, and the fear of doing too much too quickly because it had been so long since I had exercised. As it turned out, I didn't need to worry on either score. I told John about my back and he was very attentive to my level of pain and made sure we stopped immediately if something felt off-kilter. But his expertise is such that almost nothing ever has because he knows what movements to avoid for people with my issue. The other impressive part is his pacing -- he started slowly and over the course of a few months gradually got me up to the point that I was noticing an improvement in my stamina and fitness level. For example, from barely being able to do one set of 8 pushups (on my knees) to doing 3-4 sets of 10 (on my toes) over the course of the workout. Or from barely eking out one set of 10 squats or walking lunges to being able to complete 4-5 sets of them - -all with his signature attentiveness, patience, support and encouragement. The kicker came when a friend decided he was going to follow John's structured program for 30 days [3 workouts/week, 3 cardio sessions/week, and nutrition/diet plan with snacking and drinking guidelines]. I decided to sign up for it too, to get ready for a trip to Palm Springs. The thought of taking my shirt off by the pool was a bit terrifying. But after 30 days I dropped 3.3% body fat, 5 pounds, and a full inch from my waist. Most importantly, I toned up like I hadn't been in YEARS. When the moment of truth came poolside, my friends couldn't believe my new physique. And you'd better believe their comments felt great. I have been so inspired and pleased by John and everyone at bodyFi (you could eat off the floor and I'm not kidding), I'm signing up for another John-created program immediately, and envision I will continue to make bodyFi the center of my fitness routine. I have my 50th birthday coming up near the end of the year, and expect I will be feeling and looking 20 years younger, thanks to John. My advice: Even if you don't think you could possibly benefit, or are too anxious to even try, give personal training with John at bodyFi a shot. If I can do it, anybody can. And at this point I can't imagine NOT doing it.

One of the most caring and attentive trainers, John is also a knowledgeable and thoughtful individual. I have worked with many trainers over the years and I have been injured along the way. John has a holistic approach to fitness and he practices everything that he preaches. I couldn't imagine my weekly workouts without him. The results are immediate as he makes sure that you are following a reasonable nutritious diet while working on getting you back in shape.

I have been working out with John for over 6 months. He makes the workouts fun, interesting and at the same time, challenging! He motivates me to get into the gym and give 150% each time I am with him. John is the best trainer that I have ever worked with!

I thought a 30 minute training session seemed too good to be true but it wasn't. I really feel the burn that used to take an entire hour to achieve. I highly recommend John and bodyFi!

I went to BodyFi for TRX lessons with a co-worker. The booking process with BodyFi was a bit laborious -- lots of forms I had to fill out -- especially relative to other people I have hired on Thumbtack. The actual session and facility were fine, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the quality of either.
