Montera is a tight, high-energy rock and roll dance band.

Our mission is to entertain you and your guests, get you moving and grooving, and liven up your party or event.

We play music from the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, and '90s that you will remember or feel like doing. It will make you want to get up and dance, maybe sing along, and generally enjoy yourselves. We always have a great time, and you will, too.

We will be playing your favorite hits from the '50s through the '90s. We will liven up any event, festival, or party.

The Montera Band is a treat not to be missed. If you like to dance, and you are ready for a great time, then get your dancing shoes on, and go see the Montera Band.

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. We play a lot of birthdays,anniversary parties, corporate events, weddings,festivals, block parties...

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Choose a live band over a DJ, your guests will have more fun and it doesn't cost any more.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. live bands cost about the same as DJ and are much more fun.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. You should know who, what, where, when, and how.
Who; is coming (numbers, age, special interests...).who's in charge of the site.
What: (type of event, room size, power, special rules of the hall
Where (loading entrance(s), circuit breakers, bathrooms,parking
When (in and out times, band is to play, dinner served...)
How (program if any, to gain early access for setup, lighting?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We play the hits you grew up dancing to as well as some newer songs that we know you will love. If you want people to dance and sing along at your party the monteraband is the band for you.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. We love the energy we get from the audience, especially when the dance-floor is full

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. how much do you charge? The answer depends on your budget, how long you want us to play for , what type of party and guests you will have.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. How much fun it is to be on both sides of a live music performance.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have been singing since I could talk and I was always fascinated by watching bands play at dances and parties. It looked like fun so I tried it. That was over 30 years ago and I have been doing it ever since.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. As musicians and in my case guitar teacher, we are always learning new songs and techniques. I am a member of the Audio Engineering Society and subscribe to many industry magazines both hard copy and online.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. The latest developement is that people and clubs are going back to live music. The trend is now more work for bands and less Kareoke and DJ's.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. Our most recent outing was a neighborhood block party. This was lots of fun for the kids and their parents. We had to bring in our equipment before the barricades went up and had to wait until they came down to take it out but other than that is went smoothly. We played for 2 hours but were there for 5.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. We are a 4 piece band, or a 5 piece, or 6 piece. Generally We play for 3-4 hours. If within a 50 mile radius of Berkeley,
for the 4 piece cost= $400, 5 piece =$475, 6= piece $550. Some special requests or longer distances may incur upcharges. Some things are negotiable so don't let the price prevent you from inquiring. Additional time beyond the 4 hours may or may not cost more depending on the type of event and age of the audience.

A. Learn to play keyboards
