- How did you get started doing this type of work?
The Story of Elegant Music Sheila and I announced that we were going to get married in New York on November 7th 1987. Then a friend also announced that he was getting married. Inspired by all of this I wrote a piece for Flute and Piano called "ÂThe Wedding Song". Sheila and I first performed this piece at my parents home in New Jersey during one of our wedding receptions ...and people liked it. And then we performed again at another of our wedding receptions this time in a suburb of Chicago, where Sheila'Âs parents lived ...and people liked it. Then it seemed that everyone we knew were also planning their weddings so as a gift Sheila and I performed at several weddings of friends ...and people liked it. We had such a good time at our own wedding and performing for friends that we decided to continue to perform professionally when we moved to Los Angeles in 1990. We started out as "The Zimmermann Duo." That didn't sound quite right, not even to me. I came up with the name "Elegant Music." It is interesting that upon hearing us perform we consistently receive the compliment, "ÂIt is elegant music!" Over the years we have grown to include many music services: Duos, Trios, Quartets, Jazz, Live Bands, DJ Dance Music and Professional Announcing. Getting married had had a profound effect on Sheila and I; it was the right thing to do. This was something we did that made us happy. We would love to hear from you.
