Placer Nature Center offers fun, outdoor, hands-on classes to fulfill curricula needs. Students of all ages enjoy the camaraderie of other homeschoolers while learning through affordable, experiential programs.

Classes are designed to engage and educate children in grades K to high school. Pre-scheduled classes are about 2 hours long and incorporate a trail hike into the program lesson. We will also schedule customized classes or pre-designed programs (from our selection of field trips) for any student group size of 10 or more; groups can be mixed grade levels.

All classes adhere to the California content standards.

Classes are only $6 per student (custom classes and some day-long field trips may be more, depending on program). We do accept vouchers with advanced notice. Registration is requested to ensure enough program materials.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask providers if lessons plans adhere to the California Content Standards for education. Providers should be able to let you know which standards lessons fulfill. The best lessons are cross curricula as this builds the most engaging experience.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. It's no secret that children (and adults) learn best when lessons are hands-on. The more a learner can relate the lesson to their own life, the more the lesson will be internalized.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Consumers should inquire about a providers past experience, credentials, awards, and length in service.
