My name is is Vicki Stephens, and I have owned and operated Vicki's Little Rascals Petcare since 2001. I have one trusty assistant that helps me on our daily tail-wagging adventures, and ensures that there is always coverage for my pack.

I lead a variety of tailwagging excursions:

* hikes on Peninsula trails

• I have an intimate client list, and prefer it that way.
• By keeping my roster small, I am able to cater my services to my client's unique needs.
• My hairiest assistant is Henry, my 6-year old golden retriever.
• I personally take 1-2 groups of dogs a day Tuesday-Friday for outings.
• My hand picked group of little rascals are top dogs, socialized, friendly and fun. I do not introduce new rascals to the group without a careful screening for temperament and vaccination verification.

From A to Z, pugs to great Danes, I don't discriminate. Short, tall, big and small, I work with all sized rascals.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Over the years a lot of "franchise" style dog walking businesses have expanded and hired numerous inexperienced employees who often work with different dogs everyday. I would advise to work with a smaller, boutique business. I personally walk the same dogs everyday. I know the dogs personalities and I am the first person to notify the owner if anything could be wrong with their dog. I have a small business and I personally invest in my relationships with my clients and their dogs. I have been in business for ten years and I have been successful because of my attention to detail, my willingness to accommodate to meet my client's needs and my true love of animals. I go above and beyond for my clients and they are very loyal to me. Your little rascal is your baby and you need feel safe knowing that the person you meet in the interview is the one consistently walking your dog and they have some investment in providing top notch care.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I think it is extremely important to meet with a few dog walkers and get a sense of what kind of business they run. You need a reliable, organized service provider that will give your little rascal all the attention he or she deserves. Dog walking businesses are a relatively inexpensive business to start, so you need to carefully screen whomever you choose to work with to ensure that they are serious about running a service that is safe, fun and well thought out.

A. How do you handle aggressive dogs in your pack?
Will you take my dog to the vet in the event of an emergency, immediately?
Do you have experience walking dogs off leash? How do you control the off leash pack?
Describe your vehicle that will be transporting the dogs.
