About Bonaldi Tile & Stone

hired 2 times on Thumbtack

Specializing in installation of all types of tile and stone, from ceramic tiles to marble and granite slabs. As a small family business, Paul & Canon Bonaldi have been in the Bay area for over 25 years and have been able to provide to customers the best install possible and each job comes out exactly the way the home owner expects, in most cases better than what was envisioned.

Paul studied the art of porcelain pottery, traveling to Italy to see the process of making fine Italian tile. Both Paul and Canon actually still do the installations and have no plans of having hired help do the skilled work. Not only is every detail of a project not over looked, but they treat your house as if it were their own.

"What makes us different from most Tile Contractors is that we understand what goes into making your project something unique, something that is of showroom quality and we do not try to cut corners just to get the job done faster."
-Paul Bonaldi

Paul did an excellent job with the tile in my house. His expertise helped me in making decisions that made my new floor look so much better than I envisioned in my own head. He was very pleasant to work with and I look forward to using him in my next project.

This review has been long overdue. Paul came out in the summer of 2013 to have our porcelain tile install. His rates were very competitive compare to the others. Paul Bonaldi is a easy person to work with. He is very professional and his work is the best. We get compliments every time we have people over. I would highly recommend him!!!

Paul remodeled our bathroom installing tile in the tub/shower and bath floor, granite on the counter top of the vanity. Being a retired tile contractor myself, I wanted someone who had the skills equal to or surpassed my abilities as a contractor ( I am very particular). Needless to say the work was installed with great care and was impressive! Paul is a master tile setter who takes great care to do the job with skill and precision. When you want perfect job Paul Bonaldi tile and stone is the company you will be happy with.

We had the pleasure of working with Paul Bonaldi on a renovation of our master bathroom. We recommend Paul without any reservations.
Throughout the course of the renovation, Paul was a professional. He was accurate in his initial assessment of the scale and cost of the project. Our job was done with care and precision. He is a gifted tile and stone mason. He designed and executed our bathroom with love.
In addition, he was extremely clean and tidy in the workplace. He never left the worksite in disarray. He vacuumed dust daily. Paul took special care to prevent any of the job dust from trailing throughout our house.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Kitchen and Bath Remodels. Tile and Marble installation. Floors and Fireplaces.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. 1. I recommend doing some research on what you are interested in having done in your home.
2. Listen to referrals, you can avoid a lot of head ache and also save time and money by doing the job right the first time.
3. See the work of the person you are going to hire. Would you buy something in a store with out looking at it first? You are paying for experience of the person you are hiring, by seeing their work you will have peace of mind knowing that you are getting what you pay for.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Three things - Attention to detail, Cleanliness and Experience. My prices may be a little more than the other guy, but I don't rush the installation in order to finish faster and get on to the next job. With over 25 years in the business I have used most products out there and I have found the best ones to install the tile in order to get the best installation.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How much does it cost to install tile per square foot?
Depending on the tile and what preparation is needed before installing the tile, the average job usually ranges between $3 - $10 per square foot.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. It has some similarities to the hobby of ceramics and painting that I enjoy. It involves some creativity and skill and that is the main reason why I got into this line of work. In a sense, you start with a blank canvas or room and end up with something nice to look at, completely different from the room that is was.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I did some traveling to Italy and was able to see how they make good quality ceramic & porcelain tile. Also, I constantly keep up with new products that improve the installation of tile.
