This project was started by a very talented craftsman. He did a lot of the cabinetry.
I completed the cabinetry, finished the electrical, plumbing, waste system and appliances. Chris removed an old refrigerator vent and replaced it with aluminum skin. It can barely be seen. He did a great job!
For the plumbing, we added a unique feature to the black tank and grey run off system. The grey water does not have a tank in these old airstream trailers and there was no room to add one. So, it is set up to run into an external blue tank or into a sewer or septic system. Also, we added an electric valve in the system to divert all grey water into the black water tank for dry camping.
This is a great finished project. They use it at a beautiful private vineyard called Kick Ranch in Rincon Valley, CA.
A. How to find this unique service that many are looking for. I get most of my business by word of mouth happy customers that tell other vintage trailer enthusiasts that they meet. It is a close circle of people interested in the bygone era of style and quality work.
A. Less cost, great quality and fast turn around. Working on vintage Trailers is really unique. Most RV shops turn away work on the older trailers because they do not have an instruction manual on how to do the repairs. We have been doing this for so long that we love the work and the challenge.
A. The variety of working on different projects from varying era's of time. I like the modern RV's and the Vintage trailers. My favorite projects are the vintage Airstream, Spartan, and Canned Ham trailers like the Shastas. Also, the Vagabonds, Avions & Silverstreak Clippers.
A. Can you fix this old thing? We can fix just about anything. We find parts that seem impossible to locate, modify a part to work or fabricate a new part.
How much is this going to cost? The price is based on the time it will take and the material costs.
When can we start? I can usually start a project within a week or two.
How long will this take? Most projects I can finish within a week or two. Large restorations take about 2 to 3 months.
A. Often times customers come to me after having a vintage trailer they have restoring for years that they have worked on a little, paid someone else to work on, yet it never gets finished. I enjoy getting the project and finishing it in about a month or two. Then they are thrilled!
