Stephan is an awesome guitar instructor. He really knows his stuff and is extremely versatile. He can play in pretty much any genre you could think of, and does an outstanding job of hitting on all aspects of guitar playing -- both in terms of music theory and specific physical playing skills. No matter your level of playing, Stephan can be a suitable teacher for you. Stephan also does not abide by a rigid, inflexible lesson plan. He is interested in what YOU want to learn, whether it's specific songs or styles of playing. Whatever it is you want to learn, he tailors his lessons to you and will get you to where you want to be in a fun and ultimately effective way (so long as you practice ;)). I've been taking lessons with Stephan for over two years, and I don't really want to stop anytime soon because 1) there is always more to learn on guitar and Stephan is a great teacher and 2) Stephan is fun and very easy to get along with, so the time spent with him during lessons is very enjoyable.

Stephan is an excellent guitar teacher. He is patient and explains everything well, from finger position to theory to the basic essence of what makes good music. He covers a broad range of musical genres, lets the student set the agenda but can also take over if you don't know what to do next. He is an all-around great person to work with.

When I first came to Stephan, I could not play the guitar. Working with him for just two weeks, I learned all the basics, and could play and perform with a guitar. He has a cool and calm demeanor that made me feel immediately comfortable and welcome at our first meeting. Stephan is one of the most talented and knowlegable musicians that I have ever met. He has a genuine passion for music and helping his students learn. From my experience with him, absolute beginners as well as highly trained musicians could all benefit and learn a thing or two from taking a lesson with Stephan.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Shop around! Choosing a teacher is a big decision and unfortunately not every student / teacher pairing is a perfect fit. Make sure the provider is willing to share their approach and their demeanor with you BEFORE they ask you to commit a bunch of time and money to them! In trying to live up to my own beliefs about teaching and the services I'm selling I always allow a free introductory lesson for ANY student interested in lessons because I know how stressful of a process it can turn into. Don't settle for the person who's just there -- settle for the person who is the right fit!
