A. I do everything! It depends on the week, month, or year. Recently I've been doing lots of music videos, 2 sitcom pilots, commercials, and weddings. Every day is a new adventure! I've even worked with opera singers!
A. When you hire Victoria, you hire an extremely talented Hollywood Makeup artist who offers reasonable rates, is always on time, and works quickly and beautifully with an awesome attitude. Her work is guaranteed!
A. There are many makeup artists out there, but not many are experts in skincare, have worked with countless celebrities including Keri Hilson and Lady Gaga, write Organic skincare blogs, Color Makeup Blogs, and have been doing this in Hollywood for over 18 years.
My experience with all skin types, ethnicities, ages, and conditions have made me an expert on individualizing a look that is both natural and gorgeous. I can also teach you how to recreate that look for yourself!
A. You definately need to know how long a makeup artist has been practicing their craft, and whether they have experience with skin issues and different ethnicities. Do they offer airbrushing for long, all day events? Waterproof makeup? Do they have a website with samples of their work? Will they do a test? These are really important in finding the best artist for you and your event.
A. Its important to know what time you need to be ready, how far you live from the event, and how much time you have. Also, name your price if you have a budget. Artists can't offer a rate unless they know how much money you have to work with.
A. There is no other artist i know of who has as many years of experience with all skin types, ethnicities, ages, and situations including High Definition photography, Film, TV, Music Videos, Beauty Pageants, Commercials, Webisodes, Headshots, High Fashion, Editorial, Catalogue, Runway, Celebrities and Red Carpet as I do. I am an expert in organic and natural skincare and makeup, a regular contributor to www.talkingmakeup.com, and a Beauty blogger for everydayopera.com . I have worked on countless projects at networks like nbc, fox, mtv, e!, oxygen, scifi, starz, and more. I've had covers and editorials in FLAUNT, InStyle.com, Health, Teen, Maxim, Salon, and many others. I've airbrushed Keri Hilson and worked for Lady gaga on American Idol. I am currently a Celebrity Artist for POP Beauty at Ulta stores around southern california as well as working in production for many commercials and music videos.
A. I love meeting new people, and the best feeling in the entire world is making someone look and feel beautiful and happy!
A. the most common question i get is, "Can you make this go away?" (pores, discolorations, etc.). My answer is always, "Yes i can. But Ill also teach you to make it stay gone!"
A. One of my favorite job stories was when I did a commercial for Olivecrest Family Homes and two of the teenage girls were so thankful that i did their makeup and they felt pretty that they cried. Then i cried! It's nice when you make someone feel that good! :)
A. I suppose I wish people knew that there are many different kinds of makeup artists with different styles and strengths. Its good to get to know peoples work and how open they are to listening to you individually and hearing you tell them what you really want, not just what they think they should give you as a look.
A. I was pursuing acting and musical theater, while doing makeup to support myself. I learned from great Hollywood artists and interned with them until 911 happened and my tv show was cancelled. That same day I met some big actors and they loved my makeup work. They really helped me and introduced me to other celebs and I did a ton of photo shoots. It turned out so well that I never stopped working! Now I really love it!
A. I am really excited about a fashion show i did last week at the Avalon. I created a 1960's "Mad Men" type of makeup look with a gorgeous black cat eye and sultry, clear pink lips for Spring 2012!
A. I am fortunate enough to be able to try everything when it comes out for each season. I even help some companies create looks and trends for upcoming seasons. And since I am a beauty blogger, many companies send me samples to try out before they are out in stores, so i get lots of practice before i use a product on a job. I also teach classes and update my airbrushing techniques regularly. I am fortunate to have an arsenal of amazing artist friends who can update me on things like FX makeup etc.
A. I think that the most exciting trend in cosmetics that i see is the continual improvement in natural and organic products with high performance and definition. I believe that there is no reason to continue to create cosmetics with toxic ingredients to find makeup that performs well, it's already here and it's getting better all the time!
A. My prices are not set, and they depend on how many hours you need me, how many people need makeup or hair, and how many services im performing. There is a price break to do Makeup and Hair. Also, if I am travelling more than 20 miles, there is a gas fee of $25 or more depending how far away i drive.
If someone comes to me and my studio in Silverlake (near Hollywood), I am more willing to give a price break on all services!
I don't like to list prices because i want to work with your budget and what you need to have done. Just call and we'll work out something that makes sense! :)
A. Definately intern/assist with an experienced artist and learn all you can from them and the different kinds of jobs, lighting, and situations you need to be prepared for. This is the best kind of training!
A. My greatest strength is that i listen. I also ask a lot of questions. I want to make sure that im prepared and that i do the best I can to make you happy and beautiful. The more input I get from my client (photos, magazine clippings, etc) the better idea I'll get of what you like and what you don't like! And I will keep going until we get it right and you are happy.
A. Im working on my networking skills! Im used to being extremely busy from referrals, but im getting out there and communicating more to new clients. I want people to know how i work and how i can help them look and feel great.
