Jeff did a good job on our commercial space painting job. He rearranged his schedule to squeeze in our job - he was done earlier than expected and was on budget. Jeff was easy to work with and his price for the job was definitely better than our other bids. We would hire him again.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Talk with more than one person and don’t go with the lowest bid.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Preparation as with most jobs important. A project may seem simple but often times I will spend hours on research to prepare an estimate to meet a clients objective. This foot work is essential for me to sell a job. What the customer needs to keep in mind is the preparation needed to make their dream a reality. This same attention to detail will be needed through the project. In order for me to perform a six hour project at ones home I may need to work for 2-3 hours before and a 1 hour after the project is complete.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A.
Ask for referrals relevant to the job at hand. Become knowledgeable in what you want, then ask questions the person one is hiring should be able to answer. Therefore the client will know they are getting what the pay for.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. What is the objective of their project? How much are they willing to pay to make their dream a reality? How will the changes the project they are considering effect the value of their home or business?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Quality of workmanship and attention to detail that I put into the job. I believe in taking care of my clients and my employees. This became evident when recently a client commented to me that my attention to their needs set me apart from other contractors.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. When a person builds something a real sense of accomplishment is achieved. Sometimes I will stand back when a job is completed and I am surprised at what 2 hands can do. I become truly satisfied when a customers sees the final completed project and they are surprised at how well the job turned out.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Can you do it? Yes

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. My wife wanted a table for our bedroom so I made a sketch of what I wanted. As I was working one day I saw some old quarter sawn white oak in our dumpster at a jobsite. I was able to turn the old lumber into a nice table.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Keep in mind the work that I do is custom to your needs and plan. My cost will reflect this. I will not sell you something that I would not personally use.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I attend University of Phoenix. My degree is BA in global business management.
