Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. Typically I look for new website design or existing website redesign. I also look for clients that have a specific goal in mind and will work with them on a consulting basis to achieve their goals. I also work on graphic design for fliers, brochures, and other marketing material. In addition, to graphics and design, some clients hire me to do SEO work.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Be sure to have a clear idea of what you want and what resources you have available. It's great to add images to a website, but where are the images coming from? Know what content you want to have and where you are going to get it from. So often people are excited about getting a website, but they don't understand that they need to provide more than a name and logo to get it done.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Working with people that are excited about their ideas. I love bringing ideas to life and it's great working with those that are passionate about what they are doing. It gets me excited and gives me motivation to continue.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I love the Internet and have been on the net since the late 80's. I was one of the first on the web, first to use Yahoo, and other search tools, and built my first website long before Google was every around. I'm passionate about what I do because i love it and enjoy it. I got into web design and development because I wanted to build cool things on the web.
Q. What are you currently working on improving?
A. Currently, I'm looking at various methods and strategies for websites to recovery from Google's latest Panda update. The current ranking algorithm is looking for signals that suggest low quality and these signals can be measured to help isolate areas where sites can improve rankings and/or recover rankings when loss based on the latest Panda update. Sites that lose rankings from Panda are not under a penalty and can recover their rankings once they've regain Google's trust by having a higher ratio of good quality pages versus the low quality pages. This ratio is key for Google to know if a site is worth the rankings and traffic they are getting.
