A. The best way to find an acupuncturist is always to meet them in person or via recommendation. An introduction between a patient and a practitioner will be beneficial to both parties. The patient can have any questions that they may have about Acupuncture answered and the Acupuncturist will be able to determine if the patient is a good candidate for Acupuncture treatments.
A. Most customers first question is always "does it hurt?". The best answer is: an acupuncture needle is usually about the size of a human Hair or thread and it is flexible. With a skilled acupuncturist this thin needle produces little to no sensation at all.
Unfortunately many of us remember receiving vaccine shots when we were young and attribute needles to that uncomfortable and painful moment.
First time patients are usually amazed at how pain-less the procedure is and how comfortable they are during their treatments.
A. The first question a consumer should always ask is "Are you a CA licensed Acupuncturist". This will indicate to the consumer that the practitioner as completed a 4 year graduate program to receive a Master's degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine and then passed his California Licensing Exam. The four year Masters program consisting of 3,210 instructional hours or 224 didactic units and 970 hours of clinic training is quite comprehensive. Once the consumer knows that the practitioner is CA certified they can make an appointment to see if acupuncture is the best choice for them.
A. When thinking of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine people generally know the ability it has to help patients with pain management and the side affects to Chemo-therapy for Cancer.
Others look into Acupuncture and Oriental medicine as an alternative to Western Medicine, as a last hope of relief when all else has lacked results or when the side effects of their current treatment out-weights the gains.
