Marta has done wonders at keeping me running. I have been going monthly for regular and Shiatsu massages for the past two years. The Shiatsu is what I refer to as my asstive yoga. The stretching while keeping the muscle warm with massage has helped me avoid injury and be able to train for longer distances.

I have treated with Marta Sykes for the past 5 years. During each session my stress seems to melt away. At the end of the session I am left with a feeling of calmness and inner peace. Marta is very professional and creates an atmosphere of trust and respect in her work. Treating with Marta has been one of the best things I have done for my health in years!

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Look for someone you feel comfortable with, who is dependable and runs their business professionally, and who listens and responds to your needs/preferences. Try going to the same therapist regularly; you'll experience more dramatic results and benefits. Be honest about what you like/don't like, what works/doesn't work; a good bodyworker wants to know so they can provide the best possible session for you.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. The best bodyworkers are usually people who have both a natural healing touch combined with training and knowledge. Great bodyworkers are people who ask what your needs are, and respond accordingly. Do not deny yourself this important health benefit if you are self-conscious about your appearance; bodyworkers don't care how you look!

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. In general, ask about things that are important to you, whether that's about the level of noise at their location or if they've had good results with clients similar to yourself. You can also ask general questions like how long have you been practicing? What is the extent of your training? Do you have a specialty? What can I expect from my first session?
