I love weddings, especially the flowers. After doing weddings for family and friends, I thought I'd branch out into a business. I've worked for florists and been trained in wedding arrangements. And because I do the flowers out of my home, I am able to save my clients money while still delivering a beautiful, quality product.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I do weddings, but each is so different. Some are smaller, others require much more work. Some are outside, others inside. My work is always different because each wedding is unique.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I would advise those who are looking at florists, to be prepared with ideas and styles before they meet. Look at magazines and websites and bring pictures that give the florist an idea of what catches your eye. When you find something that you like, think about what you like. Is it the flower, the color, the style? The more your ideas are developed, the easier it is to provide the best service.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. When I went to a florist for my wedding, I wish I had known all of the options of flower choices I had and had asked about what I really wanted, and not been afraid that it would be too expensive. I hope that brides know that it is just as important to me that they get their dream wedding, as it is that they fit in the budget.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. It really helps to have a budget, to know the site, date, and time, and to provide as much information as you can of what you like and what you want.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My work is based on the brides vision for the wedding. I work to make the flowers fit the style she asks for, while also providing suggestions and alternatives, to ensure that the look she wants fits in her budget. I also take great pride in my work, and since each wedding is done one at a time, my entire focus is on your special day.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I really enjoy flowers. They are such a beautiful addition to the wedding ceremony and speak to the style of the couple. My favorite part of each wedding is showing the bride her bouquet. It is s rewarding to see her face light up when she sees exactly what she wanted.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Customers often ask me for a price list or price range. I tell them that price depends completely on the type of flowers chosen and how many arrangements they want. I also advise them to think of their favorite colors, flowers, and to bring a picture of the wedding dress to the consultation so that the style of the bouquet matches the gown.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. It has been really special for me to do the flowers for friends and family as a wedding gift. I know that I put more love into those flowers than someone who doesn't know them would. And I go out of my way to make sure they are happy!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I wish customers knew that my work is very personal. I spend hours researching ideas and prices for every bride so that I can deliver their dreams within their budget.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I think flowers are beautiful, and I enjoy the challenge of making something unique and personal for a very special occasion.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. My most recent job was an outside wedding. I made the wedding party's arrangements, the centerpieces, and I got to do two kissing balls of solid roses that were so stunning a fun to make. The wedding turned out beautifully, and I really enjoyed working with the flowers the bride chose.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I am constantly looking at new styles in wedding flowers, and will certainly continue my training.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. There aren't really any new developments, but wedding styles are always changing, just like clothing styles, and its fun to see what is the new "in" thing!
