I am a leader in the field of hypnosis for smoking cessation, weight loss, self-esteem, and too many other habit and behavior-changing issues to list. I am a member in good standing with the prestigious National Guild of Hypnotists, the American Hypnotist Association, and the International Hypnotist Association.
I am a certified life coach, certified consulting hypnotist, and certified hypnotherapist with a good working relationship with many medical doctors in the area.
My education includes a Master's degree in Psychology, and graduated from an accredited college of hypnosis.
Other modalities include cognitive coaching, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).
All sessions are confidential, and comply with the Federal HIPAA laws.
Smoking cessation and weight loss programs are tax deductible (please check with your tax professional).
A. Ask for credentials and length of time in practice. Hypnosis is an unregulated profession, so look for professional associations and certifications.
A. Is hypnosis safe, and will I bark like a chicken? No, Hypnosis is a natural experience that every human being experiences every day. It is not mind control, supernatural, demonic, or magic. It is being able to access parts of your brain and mind that are normally unavailable.
A. How long have you been in practice? What are your qualifications? Will you provide an evaluation session so I can decide if you are the hypnotist I want to work with.
A. Why they want to make changes in their lives. Why do you want to stop smoking, drinking, feeling fear, etc.?
A. I believe in providing the best service to my clients by good practice and good continuing education. Contyinuing Education is not required, but I am continually upgrading and perfecting my skills through advanced classes.
A. Helping people become the best that they can be through a variety of modalities that allow individuality in approach. No Cookie Cutter approach here!
There are Hypnotherapists and there are Scriptnotherapists.
I am a Hypnotherapist with the time and credentials.
A. Will I cluck like a chicken? Absolutely not!
Is hypnosis mind control? No, the person experiencing hypnosis is always in control.
Is it safe? Yes, thousands of years and millions of people have experienced hypnosis with no adverse affects ever reported.
Is it supernatural? No, every human being goes in and out of the hypnotic experience every day.
Exactly what is hypnosis? There are a number of definitions including a definition in the Federal Government's Occupational Manual for hypnotherapists. I use a very simple definition of the experience. It is simply "An internal focus of attention to the extent that the outside environment is ignored and the person becomes hyper-receptive to that which is in the area of attention." Sounds complicated, but an example would be watching a movie and becoming involved to the extent that you do not pay attention to what is going on around you but you cry when something sad happens in the movie.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis? No, no more than you can get stuck in a daydream.
Isn't it just meditation? No, PET scans show two different areas in the brain are used. One for meditation, the other for hypnosis.
How does hypnosis work? By accessing the subconscious mind a person can make meaningful and life changing at a very deep level. For example, one of my clients, a doctor, wanted to lose weight, and he has lost 110 pounds over as year's time with just one session. When asked about it he said he wasn't even aware of his weight loss and he didn't have to "Try" to lose weight, it just happened.
