Introduction: Whether you are already a boxer, or are a boxing fan who wants to get in shape, a white-collar professional who's interested in learning some self-defense, or a mixed martial artist set on becoming the next heavyweight champion of the world, Classic Boxing Coach offers you a no-frills boxing program that emphasizes real techniques, training methods, and ring wisdom. This is not the fitness-style boxing you may have seen in some gyms or video programs. This is the type of gym workout all competitive fighters must master to develop a devastating set of hands and the wherewithal to use them. Make no mistake, because boxing is one of the most demanding sports there is, it demands its practitioners to be among the fittest and capable athletes in the world. Depending on each fighter's ability and comfort level, the techniques and training methods we use can be set at an individual pace to accommodate your particular skill and fitness level. We can coach anyone who wants to learn, and will corner anyone who is up to the challenge. Classic Boxing Coach's boxing program will get you in fighting shape even if you never want to get in the ring. If you do want to get in the ring, you will be a force to be reckoned with. We are serving Orange County.

I started boxing lessons with Chuck about 8 months ago. With no prior boxing or martial arts experience, I had no idea what to expect when walking into a boxing gym. I started my search online, looking at reviews and prices. Luckily, I decided to try out Classic Boxing Coach and struck gold. Although not fancy or over-the-top, the gym has all the equipment one would need (at least from what I can tell). It's never too crowded but also never lacks energy. All of the other trainers and members that I have met have been warm and welcoming, always willing to chat or share a funny story. When walking into a boxing gym for the first time ever, I expected an intimidating, intense, and cold competitive environment; yet this gym offers a hard-training atmosphere with only positive vibes and good spirits. Chuck is an amazing trainer. I think the best thing about his training is his positive and energetic attitude. He is one of those people who is always present in the moment. He puts his focus and attention onto whomever he is training. He brings in the perfect blend of mental and physical toughness. Chuck explains the sport both philosophically and technically, while still putting the athlete through hard physical workouts. The training experience at Classic Boxing Coach comes with a great balance between training and fighting. There is enough sparring to create excitement and anxiety (if one chooses to spar), but not so much that each week is an all-out fierce battle with other members. Overall, I've had an incredible experience so far at this gym. I've learned the technical aspects of boxing, had great and grueling workouts, and had some good battles in the ring. Chuck is a great coach and an even better person. He always puts the clients first. I highly recommend this gym for anyone thinking about starting boxing or switching gyms.

I trained with Classic Boxing Coach for 3 weeks while traveling on business in Costa Mesa. Having boxed recreationally for years, I have trained with coaches in many different cities, including trainers of world champions and US Olympic team coaches. Chuck is the real thing: he has excellent technique, and a deep knowledge of the mechanics and strategies of boxing. He helped me with my footwork, and set a challenging pace that kept me striving and improving my technique. He is an excellent mitt holder, and a very nice, intelligent man. He was always respectful and never condescending, which I especially appreciate, since as a middle-aged woman, I sometimes encounter coaches with pre-conceptions about my abilities and potential. I believe I can keep growing as a boxer, and Chuck helped me to do that. The workouts were always well- structured, but not rigid. I would recommend Classic Boxing Coach as a coach to people at any level, including beginners, who want to learn to do it right!

I cannot speak highly enough of Classic Boxing Coach. It begins with the atmosphere; the overall vibe of the gym is absolutely perfect for a great workout and to build upon my skills. Then there’s Chuck! I have the utmost respect for this man. He is intelligent, knows his craft and what he’s doing and is incredibly patient in explaining tactics. I have been boxing for about a year and have learned more in the 2-3 month here than anywhere else I have been. I recommend him to everyone and cannot speak any more highly of this Gym.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    1) Get personal attention. Boxing is not a cookie-cutter sport and you cannot properly teach boxing in a class setting. Each athlete has individual aptitudes and needs individual instruction. 2) Find someone you can trust. You won't listen to a coach you don't trust, and if your coach doesn't really trust you - he shouldn't be in your corner. 3) Look for a good teacher. I hate to say it, but some champions just can't teach very well. Doing something yourself exceptionally well is entirely different from teaching someone else to do it exceptionally well.
