Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Greetings! My name is Albert Picon, and I am a private saxophone, flute, and piano teacher. I have my bachelor's of arts degree in music education from Cal Poly Pomona University. During my undergraduate studies in music, I received private instruction under the direction of classical saxophonist Lori R. Huff. Moreover, I also had the opportunity to study jazz improvisation with two well-known jazz saxophonists in the Los Angeles area, Tom Luer and Craig Durst. During my last year of college, I studied jazz theory with Javier Vergara, who is a former member of the Grammy award winning Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band. I provide music lessons to all individuals ages 5 and above at my residence. Whether you have played an instrument, or it's your first time learning an instrument, I provide additional support for your level, so that you can start making music at a fast pace. Every student is given different exercises according to their needs. All students are allowed to record each lesson using a recording device that they wish to utilize during each lesson. (Note: If students decide to use their device, it will help them practice daily and increase their level of performance.) You should already have a keyboard or piano, sax or flute by the first lesson because I will assign pieces and exercises for you to practice weekly. If you have had lessons before (group or private), please bring the most recent piece that you have played. This will enable me to see what you have worked on and where to begin a new lesson based on the ability of your performance. During each lesson, there is at least 2-3 new concepts introduced. Regardless of the student's level, every lesson will be conducted in this order: A) Warm up B) Technique exercises C) Play prepared repertoire (if student is ready to play songs) D) Apply techniques to repertoire E) Review previous lesson Aside from teaching privately, I'm also a freelance musician in the Los Angeles area. I have had the opportunity to play with local bands in the L.A. area, such as "Sangria", "Freddy G and the Smooth Response", and "Eastside Groove and the Goodies". I have shared the stage with local salsa and Latin jazz bands which were "Chino Espinoza y Los Duenos Del Son", "Octavio Figueroa y La Combinacion", "Orquesta Son Y Clave", "Orquesta Son Y Cache", "Mambo Lucky 7", "Angel Lebron y Su Sabor Latino", "Mambop Salsa Band", and "Frank Cano Latin Jazz Band". Currently, I'm conducting my own Latin jazz/salsa quintet called "Sabroson". If you are interested in receiving private lessons on sax, flute or piano, feel free to reach me at my cellphone number. I look forward to teaching you new musical concepts and techniques that will enable you to become a proficient musician.
