dbaArchitects is a creative and dedicated firm. We pride ourselves on our resourcefulness and our ability to work within real-world constraints while exceeding clients’ expectations, in order to produce a synthesis of functional and aesthetic considerations.

I worked with a design-build firm for approximately seventeen years, during which time, numerous traditionally constructed and fast track projects were completed. My experience there formed the basis for dbaArchitects, which I founded in 2002.

dbaArchitects has completed a wide variety of projects, including commercial, residential, tenant improvement, restaurant, hospitality and residential. We approach each project on its own terms, with no preconceived ideas about what the end product should be. Our diversity and experience allow us to be confident that projects will be successfully realized.

Architecture is a process leading to a solution. The process requires different considerations for different projects. Our projects are quite varied, but each one is approached as a design challenge on its own parameters.

Please view dbaArchitects' website for examples of our work.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Hire an architect that you are comfortable with. Make sure the architect knows about construction. Many architects only know the field from sitting in an office and drawing. That is not architecture. An architect must know about many fields related to the designing of a building. Above all, and architect is an organizer: of thoughts, ideas, and requirements as well as consultants.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Architects do more than draw lines that indicate walls. An architect is able to coalesce many seemingly disparate ideas into a coherent whole.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Ask whatever comes to your mind. Don't worry that you might have missed something: A good architect will help you by answering questions that you don't even know you have.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. If you have an idea of what you are looking for, great! But you don't have to have the solution. Just express your needs. The solution will come about during the process of design.
