Fred Oakes Company was formed in 2005 with CSLB license # 867220. We have completed numerous projects in commercial and residential construction ranging from $5K to 300K during 2005 to 2008.

2009 and 2010 presented numerous challenges with the economy and our relocation from Monterey to San Jose has proven challenging as well. But we still perform the highest quality construction and remodeling. My company is a small construction firm with myself as President. I bring in carpenters and sub-contractors when needed.

We maintain a low overhead with office located at 1400 Coleman Ave. Suite E-26 , Santa Clara, Ca. 95050

A. Most customers commonly ask me how long will the project take. I answer with a clear understanding based on spending more time with the schedule than necessary.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Yes. I was 3 years old, sitting in my Dad's old tool shed with the dirt floor and wood planks. I was wearing coveralls and driving a 16 penny nail into a piece of wood ( with a hammer ) looking up at him as he took my picture, not realizing at the time I would have a life-long career as a carpenter in construction! I think he actually set the nail in the board for me, though.

A. How much work and time it takes to do a good job.

A. Keeping up to date with the latest Green Building trends is very important to share this knowledge of techniques and new products with my clients.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Be aware that the remodeling and construction business is very detailed oriented and not always a money maker. Be sure the bid is correct, the owners know exactly what they are getting, and choose the type of jobs that you do best.
