Ever wanted to step up your guitar playing past that beginner level?

Want to learn more complex concepts, how to improve your playing, learn music theory?

Want to learn rock, metal, or jazz?

Are you just a complete beginner? Well then I'm the guitar teacher for you. I teach all age groups.

Having studied classical music at the San Francisco Conservatory for over 8 years and contemporary music in Davis for 5 I take music very seriously and love teaching.

I studied guitar under legendary guitarists Chris Broderick (Megadeth) and Steve Smyth (Forbidden), I am fully-equipped to teach all levels of guitar in a wide range of styles.

I am a graduate of UC Davis and have taught at the UC Davis Experimental College and private lessons in the Davis/Sacramento area for over 4 years. I have a deep passion for teaching and plan to eventually pursue a master's degree in music theory. I recently moved back to San Francisco and am continuing my lessons here with students of all ages and interests!

Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I custom tailor all my lessons to my student's needs. I have prepared lesson plans in many fields, however I prefer to move forward with what the student wants to do. If my students aren't having fun or enjoying themselves and learning something then I feel like I'm not doing my job. I prefer that my lessons move forward as the student's needs and interests change.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love writing, producing, and performing music. With that being said I do not consider teaching to be a secondary option as some music instructors do. I fortunately also love teaching and take it very seriously, not just as some sort of secondary way to make money as a musician. I love getting actively involved with my students, jamming with them, and making them feel like the impossible is possible! I frequently push my students beyond their comfort levels to show them that their long term goals are very possible with hard work and practice!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Customers usually ask me about what styles I teach and how to practice properly. Stylistically I am versed in many genres of music and play styles from jazz to blues to metal. With that being said I am very honest with myself and students when I do not know something (for instance I am not well versed in country fingerstyle playing even though I would love to learn it). With that being said I have worked with students on songs and genres that I don't know and have found the discovery process very rewarding and possible. I am not an elitist and often find myself learning many things from my students. In terms of proper practice I usually set aside specific lesson plans for my students to give them a rough idea of how they should allocate their time and how to tackle specific issues.
