My 8 year old daughter has had two lessons with Rex so far, but she responds really well with him. His teaching style is perfect for her and she is excited about learning. He not only is teaching her how to play, but how to read music as well. I'm excited to see where she will go with him!

Rex was so generous and kind to drive clear out to my house(a looong way from his area!) and give a my first banjo lesson. Before he even got there he helped me pick out and purchase the perfect banjo for my needs. In my one hour free lesson he covered a lot of area and gave me a helpful book. Because of my remote location we are going to attempt Skype lessons in the future. He was very supportive and encouraging...which is what I needed.

It was an awesome experience with him in the first class... He gave me a good practice on bar cards and beats. And he talks very funny and jovial towards students which helps us more closer to clarify our doubts. I would recommend him to other guitar begineers too...

It's only been a few weeks since I started my lessons with Rex on the electric guitar and I may have to come back to this review later and edit. So far he's been great. He's on-time, very responsive and a very nice gentleman. He doesn't mind staying extra time if he can to review more material. I will reserve the final star for 6 months down the road. If things are as great then as they are now I will change the rating. I highly recommend him to any beginner wanting to get private lessons on the guitar.

I have had three lessons with Rex and he is an amazing teacher; Playing guitar was a dream, and Rex shows me the path to reach it. Rex really develops the confidence of his student by being patient, repeating gestures many times, explaining again and again until the student understands. Besides, when I have question, he is always available to answer me. Rex, your technique is impressive, but more than that your pedagogy is what makes you a great teacher. Lastly, Rex is friendly and have a good sense of humor that makes the learning a beautiful experience. I really excited about the level of mastery these lessons will take me in one year.

First off I consider myself a beginner. I've had a few lessons with Rex and have thoroughly enjoyed them - not just because I'm learning a lot but also he's just a cool guy to hang out with. He has interesting teaching methods which help learn the fundamentals in an engaging way. I really like how his lesson plan is taylor made for each student. I'm particularly interested in learning jazz and bossa nova so he's put together a curriculum that suits me, which includes learning diatonic 7th chords (which are used a lot in jazz) and a few jazz/bossa nova chord melody solos just to name a few things. He's also extremely organized and outlines the exact things (by sending me an email) that I need to work on between lessons. I look forward to furthering my guitar skills with Rex. I highly recommend him for anyone who is serious about progressing as a guitarist!

I had my first lesson with Rex this past week. I was truly impressed how quickly we got into matters of substance that I could actually use to improve my playing. I consider myself a novice on guitar, but I have a musical background that Rex was able to utilize so I could really begin making progress instantly. I look forward to continuing to learn and improve under his teaching.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Guitar & Banjo lessons throughout out the East Bay Area of California. I work with beginning students up to professional musicians. Many of my students are accomplished guitar players wanting to take their skill to the next level. My touring experience and musical background are invaluable for students that want to become professional musicians.

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. I have had the pleasure of rehearsing and performing with Rex over the past 8 years and am a performing musician who continues to take guitar lessons from him. His knowledge of not only guitar technique but his vast understanding of music theory and arranging – and – what it takes to perform with professional musicians puts him on a level truly unmatched by most other instructors. Craig H. – San Ramon CA

Rex has been a God send to me. I have been an entertainer vocals and guitar for 35 years. I learned most of the Micky Baker jazz chords but never understood completely what made 7th 5ths etc.. After one month of guitar lessons with Rex… Its all starting to fit like a puzzle. Its very rare in life we get work with an extraordinary highly developed professional like Rex Bell. - John R

Rex, for over twenty years I have tried to learn to play the Banjo. Last Monday was the flrst time that I actually played a tune on it. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!! Larry R. - San Ramon California

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. My rates are unbelievable for someone with my background and experience. Most instructors in the East Bay haven't toured with the caliber of performers that I have, nor do they have the breadth & depth of education that I do. Check us all out, give me a try - you'll be blown away!
