Introduction: I am very in tune with my students and can often quickly identify and remedy vocal problems. I had one student who came to me after trying various voice teachers and voice classes. He had always ended up quitting the lesson or class because he actually would get sores in his throat from incorrect technique. In one lesson, I was able to help him identify the source of his pain, and within a few lessons, he discovered that he had a very strong, resonant voice when he used healthy vocal technique. It is extremely gratifying to help people discover their voice. Many students come to me and say, "Well, I'm not a very good singer. I don't have a good voice." I always reassure them that this is not true ... that they actually don't know how to sing, and I'm going to teach them how to do it! When a student begins to see/hear their progress, and realize the potential of their own voice, I get to see the shift in their perspective. They acknowledge finally that they can become a good singer, and they do have a good voice!

Rebecca is the music teacher you've been looking for all your life. She truly believes that everyone can sing, and even if you don't believe that about yourself yet, her enthusiasm, patience, and skill will soon win you over, and you'll be amazed at the sounds coming from your (nice open) throat. I was teased for years as a child about my terrible off-key singing, rejected from elementary school chorus and told to mouth the words in children's church choir. In music theory class in college I was the only student who couldn't match a pitch with my voice (the worst in 20 years, according to my professor). I had resigned myself to not being able to sing, ever. And that made me sad. My adult children had worked with Rebecca in theater and were soon both taking voice lessons with her. They encouraged me to try, and explained that Rebecca was a sort of miracle worker. And it's true! She makes her studio a very emotionally safe place, and even though I was initially afraid to make any sound that might be construed as an attempt to sing, I was soon relaxed and enjoying my lessons. Rebecca's step-by-step, physically oriented approach gives you specific things to try with your tongue, mouth, throat, and diaphragm that help you actually learn what to do to make the sounds you want. And guess what? Now I sing. And it's fun. And it sounds pretty good, actually. Surprise! If you've ever wanted to sing but thought you can't, this is the teacher for you.

I cannot possibly recommend Rebecca highly enough. I had a lot of paranoia about my (lack of) ability to sing, so much that I had to spend some time getting to know Rebecca in other contexts (we were coworkers for awhile) before I was brave enough to ask her for voice lessons. Now, I'm so glad I did ask, because the lessons are fabulous. Rebecca is never anything but encouraging, helpful, and supportive. She always finds ways to challenge me without letting me get discouraged. I'm becoming a much better singer (people no longer politely wince when I put the radio on in the car and sing along), but what makes the difference to me is that something that used to be scary is now fun. (Okay, still occasionally scary, but in a good way.) This Studio has been great for me!

Rebecca is a wonderful voice teacher! Having had a few different instructors, I can honestly say that Rebecca is the best. She is attentive, patient, insightful and very talented herself - which inspires me to continue the work. She has been able to help me identify what is holding me back as a singer, and assist me in releasing my voice and potential.
