FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For editing and such, I charge by the hour or the project. If someone wants to write a book, and is at the beginning of that process (no first draft, for example), I then come in as a Book Developer. In this case, I charge by the month for hourly sessions and the option of written feedback on their writing in between sessions. Writing a book is a longer-term process than presenting me with a written draft to edit, thus the monthly arrangement.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I see what the customer asks for, and then, if appropriate, ask further questions so that I can give them what they want. Often, I ask them to send me a sample of the writing, or the complete manuscript so I can see what's involved on my end in terms of which of my skills, and what level of my skills, are needed. I determine whether the manuscript is self-explanatory enough that I can dive in right away, or whether some conversations with the customer (by email and/or phone) would clarify things so that I completely understand what they are needing. Then I do the work, and when I am done, I present it to the customer.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 30 years in the publications industry as an editor, writer, and consultant to publishers, authors, businesses, and nonprofits. I have an MA in English Literature. I created an approach to writing over 25 years ago called "Writing from the Deeper Self," which has positively affected many hundreds of people by opening the doors to their own creativity and writing productivity. I have training in psychological and spiritual studies that helps me better serve the deeper desires of my customers, and even help bring out their own abilities to articulate in their writing, beyond what they expected of themselves before.
