FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Licensed psychologists in California are required to take at least 36 CEUs in the field every two years to renew their license. I have been a licensed Ph.D. psychologist in California since 1989 (that's nearly 25 years of additional continuing education over the span of career!).
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I became a therapist after my undergraduate work as a double English major because it totally satisfies my core interest in compassionate service, psychological understanding and depth, and helping others just like myself through the complexities and challenges of modern life, relationships, and dysfunctional patterns leftover from family-of-origin dynamics.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Talk directly with potential therapist on the phone first, or ask about my about my 50% off first office visit. The key is do you feel comfortable talking to this provider? Does he or she seem competent and experienced in their field? What approach are they likely to take with your situation, and how many sessions will it likely take to treat?
