I was born near Boston, Massachusetts in 1945. At age nine, when my talent was recognized early, I won a prize for portraiture competing against high school students. At the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, I attended a summer art program when I was twelve. In the eleventh grade, I studied painting at the De Cordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts, and at the Cummington School of the Arts in the Berkshires under Sidney Hurwitz.

From 1963 to 1964, I majored in painting taught by Anton Refregier and sculpture by Harvey Fite at Bard College New York. From 1964 to 1965, I continued my studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston under the tutelage of Andreas Feininger and Robert Grady.

For many years I concentrated on the human form, drawing from life, first with a Boston group and then with the Winchester Studio Guild, assisted by professor emeritus King Coffin.

After an exploratory cross-country trip in 1981, my family and I decided to move to San Diego where we established residence in the community of Olivenhain in Encinitas. By that time, watercolor had become my favorite medium.

I have been a member of several art organizations, and have entered and juried art shows receiving many awards and prizes.

I now paint cityscapes, landscapes, historical buildings and more intimate views of the area. All my paintings, including commissions, are carried out in the representational manner using archival materials.

My original watercolor paintings and prints are available at outdoor art exhibits, by appointment at my studio and through California galleries.
