Introduction: It stands out because I am not trying to be like anyone else. I rarely look at other photographers work and like to focus on the connections between family members. Connections beat out wardrobe and location choices hands down. I also have a fair amount of discretion regarding what I show. I feel many photographer are lacking in knowing what to show and what to throw out. My last name helps too. The people. Meeting new people. Making connections and capturing the connections they have with loved ones. Also, I love a good challenge. That ranges from challenging kids to challenging lighting situations. People tend to relax around me pretty quickly and the faster that happens the more time we have to have fun and capture those familial connections. It's really all about people and the photography just facilitates the story telling.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I have traveled nationwide to be embedded with families to document their every day lives. It is so rewarding to live with people and observe their lives. I recently traveled to North Carolina to spend father's day weekend with a family. It was amazing. Shooting in this way has enabled me to create some of my most important work to date. For me it's all about real life. Real moments and honest clean photo documentation. I love what I do and can't imagine doing anything else.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Your photographer should have experience and great images that move you. You want to be able to relate to your photographer as this connection will help bring out the best in your family. Always remember......you get what you pay for.
