Question and answer

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Its good for the clients if they given some thought to what kind of style they prefer when starting a renovation or even a small design project. It's always nice to having magazine clippings as a visual of what they like. If a designer is god enough, he or she can help the client find a style but for the most part, people know what they like or don't like and with such information it helps the designer deliver the best results to their clients. If the client has given good thought to the details like which areas they want to change, then somewhat thinking of a budget also helps. Setting a budget is a very important part of most projects.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love that being an interior designer, you get to work with so many different styles, themes & concepts. Good design cannot be restricted to a specific style....its the ability to make any kind of theme or concept look stylish. And more importantly, good design is what makes the people who dwell in that space feel happy, productive, calm, at home, etc.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I would like people I work with, to know that I'm extremely passionate about Interior Design and don't just do it because I somehow stumbled upon this line of work. I've had many different jobs over the years and design is still a passion.
I have studied design in both Indian and the US. I thrive to give my clients a space they will enjoy.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. As a young kid, for many years, all I wanted to do is be a fashion designer. I sewed clothes for my dolls, loved watching fashion shows and ramp modeling on TV. However, once I was in high school, I attempted the entrance exam for the best design school in the country and failed. I was extremely disappointed and thought if I cannot get into the best school, how could I be an outstanding fashion designer? So I gave up and continued my education in Arts. After having been through some major family crisis and doing very poorly in my studies, I had to take a year break from education. It was then that my mother pointed out to me how creative I was and she thought I will do great as an interior designer and asked me to look into it and see if I was interested. I did exactly that and here I am today with a great passion for Interior Design.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. The most recent job was that of a complete kitchen renovation. The kitchen was re-created in a different part of the house and I really enjoyed picking out the finishes for this kitchen. What I'm most proud of is the fact that lady of the house (who will be that kitchen a lot) loved the end result and so did her family.
